Dr. Steven Landau, a board-certified ENT specialist with Piedmont HealthCare – Ear, Nose, & Throat, recently reached a major milestone in sleep apnea care. He successfully performed his 100th Inspire procedure at Iredell Memorial Hospital, offering a life-changing solution for patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who struggle with traditional CPAP therapy.
The Inspire procedure is an advanced outpatient treatment that uses a small implant to gently stimulate airway muscles during sleep, helping to keep airways open—without the need for a mask or hose. Performed at Iredell Memorial Hospital, this minimally invasive procedure has offered relief to patients who previously had few alternatives.
“Reaching this milestone means we’ve made a real difference in the lives of patients battling sleep apnea,” said Landau. “Inspire therapy gives people a chance to sleep better, feel better, and regain their quality of life. I’m grateful to bring this innovative treatment to our community.”
Landau has served the Greater Statesville area for 20 years, offering expertise in ENT conditions ranging from sinus issues and allergies to advanced surgical care. His work with Inspire therapy has made him a regional leader in sleep apnea treatment. In recognition of his commitment and outcomes, Dr. Landau has been named a “Provider of Excellence” by Inspire — a distinction earned by only 5 to 10 percent of implanting physicians who demonstrate high levels of experience and success with the therapy.
Iredell Ear, Nose & Throat to offer Inspire therapy
While Inspire has been offered in the area solely by Dr. Landau, Iredell Health System recently announced the opening of a new ENT practice —Iredell Ear, Nose & Throat — with board-certified otolaryngologist, Dr. Jeffrey Brink, who will also offer Inspire therapy for obstructive sleep apnea.
The addition of a second provider performing Inspire will expand patient access to this innovative, mask-free treatment across the region.
Brink will also provide comprehensive care for conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck.
